Challenge #158 - Sketch

Hello!  It's Patricia here with one more January challenge for you.  This week is sketch week, and here's what I've come up with:

Although I've drawn up the sketch as a rectangular card, you're welcome to make yours into a square if you prefer.  Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when creating your card.

Here's a hint for that tilted panel:  Cut a panel the same size as your card front.  Put whatever clean and simple design you want on it.  Attach it at an angle to your card base, and trim off the excess.  Boom!  You've nailed the sketch!

The Design Team has created the following cards to help inspire you.  Their names link to their blogs, so please feel welcome to click on them for details and to leave any comments you might have!

Challenge End Time:  6:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time/11:00 p.m. London U.K. time Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Challenge #157 - Colours

Wow!  We really enjoyed seeing all the terrific cards our challenge participants created with last week's sketch challenge!  It was great seeing some new people taking part in our challenge along with our regular participants!  We hope you'll join us again this week.  This time we have some yummy colors for you to work with:

We've used Stampin' Up colour names for reference; however, you may use any companies' products for your cards as long as you match our colours as closely as possible. Lighter and darker shades, such as derived from watercoloring an image, are allowed.  You may also use white, ivory, kraft, or black for your card base and layers, for image outlines, or for sentiments. However, in order to be considered for our weekly winners, you must not use any other colours.

The design team has come up with these fabulous cards to get your creative juices flowing:

Challenge #156 - Sketch

Hi there!  It's Patricia here again with our first sketch challenge of 2016.

There is a bit of a story to this sketch.  Over the holidays, I was saddened to hear that one of my crafting acquaintances had passed away.  Leslie was an occasional participant here at CC&S, and her cards frequently reflected her fun and quirky sense of humor.  Leslie had started her own sketch challenges at her personal blog in 2015, and I enjoyed playing along in them.  In honor of her, I've combined elements from her first two Crooked Stamper Sketch Challenges into one card design:

Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when creating your card.  The sketch is designed for an A2 sized card (5.5" x 4.25"), but if you prefer to create square cards, you may manipulate it into a square.  So long as we can easily see the sketch elements that are contained within the black rectangular outline shown here, it's all good!

Here is some inspiration from the design team to get your creative juices flowing:

Challenge #155 - Colours

Hello!  Welcome to a new year of challenges here at CAS Colours & Sketches!  If you are new to us, we are a challenge blog dedicated to the Clean and Simple style of card making, and we alternate each week between color challenges and sketch challenges.  If you have joined in our challenges in the past, we're glad you're here again!

I'm Patricia, and I'm excited to welcome our newest Design Team members:  Beverley, Caro, Karen, and Liz!  Along with Jane, Louise, and Stef, we are eager to continue sharing the fun and creativity of our challenges with you.

It's the first Thursday of the month, which means we have a color challenge for you.  What will you make with these cool wintry colors?

We've used Stampin' Up colour names for reference; however, you may use any companies' products for your cards as long as you match our colours as closely as possible. You may also use white, ivory, kraft, or black for your card base and layers, for image outlines, or for sentiments. However, in order to be eligible for our Weekly Winners voting, you must not use any other colours.

Here is some inspiration from the Design Team.  We've created cards for a wide variety of occasions!

We are looking forward to continuing our Guest Designer program this year!  Each month, the names of all the Weekly Winners from the previous month are put into a drawing.  One name is selected and that person is invited to be a Guest Design Team member for an upcoming month of challenges.  I'm delighted to announce that our Guest Designer for the month of January, selected from our October Weekly Winners, is Maaike!  She's been a frequent participant in our challenges and we are thrilled to have her join us as our Guest Designer this month.  Here's her take on this week's challenge:
